One of the fundamental aims of his painting is to reveal only as much of the human body as is necessary to tell the small, intimate story that occupies him. These are often not stories in the traditional sense, but rather sensations, fragments, crumbs of reality that address the viewer through their intimacy. The bodies appearing in his paintings are not merely body fragments, but autonomous entities: they evoke the sensation of the human body while formally adapting to the content they carry. Such is his series Home, which recalls the archetype of the dwelling house. The form remains the same, and the contours create a gentle equivalence around the identities, yet it is precisely the personal details within them that allow the figures to reveal themselves. Imprints of memories, traces of sunburn, wounds, freckles and the flushed marks of blushing bring to life the human presence hidden within them.
