Art Series at Time Out Market Budapest ![]()
Once a month, we invite the public to discover the work and world of the Apollo Gallery’s current exhibiting artist.
During each event, three selected artworks will be installed inside The Vault — right next to the Spirit Bar — and guests will have the chance to meet the artist in an intimate, conversational setting.
A new exhibition titled “What We Preserve, What We Pass On” opens at Apollo Gallery on February 3, 2026. The exhibition explores the less visible yet fundamental layers of artistic knowledge transfer through the relationships of three masters and three students — a process in which not techniques, but ways of seeing and thinking are passed on.
A special feature of the exhibition is that the students were selected by the masters themselves, meaning that the presented works and texts reflect not representational criteria, but the functioning of a living artistic tradition. In the upper space, the masters’ thoughts and works focus on the “why” of art, while in the lower space the students’ artworks and master-student reflections can be viewed side by side. The two spaces speak with different emphases, yet are interwoven: the masters’ works also appear among the students, and selected student works are placed alongside the masters.
Exhibiting artists:
Baksai József – Kristófy Dániel
Gaál József – Palagyi Balint Sandor
Szurcsik József – Reining Vivien
Curator: Nagy Nikolett Colette
“What We Pass On” is not only an exhibition, but a sensitive insight into the process through which heritage transforms into a personal, autonomous artistic language.
To complement the evening, the Market will present a limited-edition cocktail created specially for the event – inspired visually and conceptually by the artist’s work. The cocktail will be available at the Spirit Bar throughout the event.
